Sulawesi Toraja Pulu Pulu
Prescription Coffee Lab
The Indonesian island of Sulawesi has been producing coffee for a while now, but it wasn't until now that we have been truly blown away by a coffee from the island. This coffee is sweet, clean, and floral just in time for spring. The lingering sweetness reminds us of caramelized sugar like the crunchy top of creme brulee, while the overall sweetness is strong and honey like. The cup is balanced out but a beautiful floral acidity that displays just a hint of citrus essence.
Pulu Pulu is one of the higher coffee growing areas in Tana Toraja (1700 to 2000 meters above sea level) and home to many older Sulawesi coffee farms. This lot is from a smaller coffee collector who lives in Pulu Pulu village. Farmers depulp their own coffee and then sell to the collector as wet parchment. He then lays the coffee to dry at his small warehouse, and then it is dry milled at a larger milling facility in Bandung.
